Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

Our flagship level 3 programme opens the doorway for Stylists to become Senior Stylists, Head Stylists and Creative Directors. The level 3 qualification inspires limitless creativity with advanced skills and techniques, enabling salon teams to meet the most complex needs of their clients. Ofsted have validated our Level 3 success rates as ‘outstanding’ for 2 years running.

From colour corrections, to wedding hair, advanced cutting and high fashion styles, the NVQ Level 3 is essential for all good stylists and covers the most expensive client services, increasing revenue for the salon and commission for salon staff.

The qualification is split into ‘units’ which are worth a number of ‘credits’. To achieve the full level 3 qualification you must achieve a total of 58 credits. There are additional credits awarded for the achievement of Key/Functional Skills, 5 credits for Communication and 5 credits for Application of Number. Total number of credits required – 68.

Mandatory Units – all units must be completed

• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations  (4 credits)
• Promote additional services or products to clients (6 credits)
• Provide hairdressing consultation services (3 credits)
• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques (8 credits)

Plus 5 optional units (all 5 can be chosen from group 1 but only one unit can be chosen from group 2)

 

Option Group 1

• Colour hair using a variety of techniques (12 credits)
• Provide colour correction services (13 credits)
• Creatively style and dress hair (4)
• Creatively dress long hair (5 credits)
• Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills  (5 credits)
• Create a variety of permed effects (8 credits)
• Provide creative hair extension services (8 credits)

Option group 2

• Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business (4 credits)
• Support client service improvements (5 credits)
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities (5 credits)

(Additional optional units may be taken if desired)

Duration: Complete at your own speed up to 18 months
